An evening dedicated to Valpolicella and its famous wines, from red to Amarone, as well as Recioto. Among the most renowned wine areas of Veneto and Italy, the event had as protagonist Novaia winery of Marano di Valpolicella in the province of Verona. Located to the left of Marano Valley, Novaia is run for more than 30 years by Vaona family, committed to viticulture and wine making for more than four generations. To the event took part dr. Marcello Vaona - owner of the winery and wine maker - whom illustrated to the over 150 participants the characteristics of Valpolicella and its famous grapes with which are being made Novaia's wines: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta. In the course of the evening have been tasted five wines - all of them produced in the same territory with the same grapes - starting from Valpolicella Classico 2010, completely vinified in steel tanks, a wine of pleasing crispness in which can be perceived the full expression of the grapes. The event continued with Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso 2008, aged in barrique and produced with the "ripasso" technique, consisting in the refermentation of the wine with fresh Amarone's pomace - followed by Valpolicella Classico Superiore I Cantoni 2008, an advance tasting for this event, also in this case aged in barrique. The tasting of the three Valpolicella wines has been followed by Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corte Vaona 2007, produced with Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta allowed to dry form few months and then vinified to its complete fermentation and aged for 2 years in barrique. The event ended with Recioto della Valpolicella Classico Le Novaje 2006, a wine which received the full appreciation of participants, as well as Amarone, expressing a pleasing elegance and balance. The tasting of wines has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana, who also created the dishes paired to Novaia's wines and made by Locanda dei Golosi's kitchen led by Chef de Cuisine Emiliano Buccolini and Sous Chef Alberto Kurti.
