The prestigious Ferrari bubbles and the wines of Tenute Lunelli
Perugia, Italy
Thursday, April 16th, 2015
A superb evening made precious by the famous and celebrated elegance of classic method sparkling wines of Perlé range - flagship wines of Ferrari winery of Trento - and by the class of wines produced in the three wineries belonging to Lunelli Group. The event has been in fact an exclusive chance for appreciating the three interpretations of Trento Perlé as well as for understanding three important wine areas of Italy: Trentino, Tuscany and Umbria. The history of the wineries and the characteristics of the territories have been told by Alessandro Lunelli - owner of Ferrari winery and Lunelli Group - who also focused on the history of the wineries established, in 1902, by Giulio Ferrari to whom today has been dedicated the most prestigious sparkling wine of Ferrari winery. The initial part of the event has been dedicated to the TrentoDOC sparkling wines, beginning with Trento Brut Perlé 2008, a magnificent blanc de blancs, produced with Chardonnay and refermented in bottle on its lees for five years. The event proceeded with Trento Brut Perlé Rosé 2008, produced with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a charming pink robe, expresses a fuller body than the previous wine, however showing class and elegance. The part dedicated to bubbles ended with Trento Extra Brut Perlé Nero 2007 - DiWineTaste Five Diamonds - a magnificent blanc de noirs, produced with Pinot Noir, extraordinary interpretation of elegance, power and balance, undoubtedly one of the best sparkling wines currently made by Ferrari. The second part of the event has been dedicated to the wines of Tenute Lunelli, beginning with Trentino Bianco Villa Margon 2011 - mainly produced with Chardonnay - a brilliant example of how a white wine, when produced with this specific goal in mind, can be absolutely appreciable after some years from harvesting. It is then the turn of Teuto 2010 - a wine from Tenuta Podernovo in Tuscany and mainly produced with Sangiovese - a beautiful interpretation giving the glass the typical aromas of this variety and the austerity of the aging in wood. A well made wine, certainly calling one glass after another. The evening ended with Montefalco Sagrantino Carapace 2009 - produced at Tenuta di Castelbuono, characterized by the the building with a shape resembling a turtle and made by Arnaldo Pomodoro - a wine capable of expressing the typical power of Sagrantino with smooth and round tannins, capable of giving elegance to the wine. The sensorial tasting of wines has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana, chef editor of DiWineTaste.
