The season 2009-2010 of DiWineTaste events started with the excellence of Antonelli San Marco's wines of Montefalco. An event having more than 100 participants, who had the chance of directly knowing the quality of this historical winery of Montefalco and its excellent wines, including the renowned Sagrantino. To the evening took part dr. Filippo Antonelli, owner of the winery, who told participants the history of the territory and its grapes as well as illustrating how the wines are being produced in his cellar. The evening started with Grechetto dei Colli Martani 2008, a good representative of this renowned white berried grape from Umbria. It was then the turn of the second wine of the evening, Trebbiano Spoletino 2008, a preview tasting for the occasion, a wine of class and elegance which obtained the favor and the appreciation of participants. The event proceeded with the first red wine of the evening - Montefalco Rosso 2006 - mainly produced with Sangiovese grape, which preceded Sagrantino di Montefalco 2005, an interesting vintage in which the unmistakable elegance and style of Antonelli San Marco is well expressed. Elegance and style also confirmed in the last wine of the evening - Sagrantino di Montefalco Passito 2005 - with a pleasing sweetness well balanced by round and smooth tannins. The tasting of wines has been conducted by Antonello Biancalana - chief editor of DiWineTaste - who also created, as usual, the dishes matched to the wines and made by Locanda dei Golosi's cuisine led by chef Francesco Pelli.
