In a region in which the sun is very generous with the land, vines give generous grapes rich in sugar, therefore making round and alcoholic wines. In this particular condition, it is sometimes difficult to keep a proper crispness, essential for a good balance and elegance. Albea winery of Alberobello, in province of Bari, is aware of the viticultural wealth of Apulia and is trying to give a new character to the wines of the region, marking - in certain regards - a new way for Apulian enology. An interesting project based on the typical white and red berried grapes of Apulia from which are being obtained wines with a modern style. The evening dedicated to Albea has in fact had as protagonists five wines produced with the typical grapes of Apulia. The event started with Locorotondo Il Selva 2013 - made from Verdeca, Bianco d'Alessano and Minutolo grapes - characterized by a pleasing enjoyability: an immediate and direct wine offering good sensations to the nose as well. The event continues with R'Osè 2012, a rose wine made from Uva di Troia, appreciated for its aromas of wild berries and a pleasing effervescence. It is then the turn of the two reds of the evening, also in this case produced with typical grapes of Apulia, starting from Petranera 2011, produced with Primitivo, also known as Zinfandel and aged in barrique, a wine joining the generous character of the grape to a pleasing elegance. The most appreciated wine of the evening has been Lui 2010 - flagship product of Albea winery - expressing the character of Uva di Troia in a perfect balance between tertiary aromas and the typical aromas of the variety. The evening ended with Linfarossa 2012, made from dried Primitivo grapes and vinified in steel tanks, a pleasing wine joining sweetness to crispness, well supported by a very balanced atringency.
